EPSON scan not working - RPC connection with scan manager error?

Q: I have suddenly started getting a message "RPC connection with Scan Manager terminated abnormally", and then escndv.exe has to close. Can't use my RX500 as a scanner any more! Prints and copies OK. I have XP with SP2. I've googled the error message but I can't find anyone who has solved it who will tell me for free. Can any kind and experienced person assist please?

A: Disconnect the scanner, uninstall the software, reset the computer, reinstall the software. If this still gives problems load the drivers from the Epson site (www.epson.co.uk) and reinstall as stated above http://www.trilogicuk.co.uk
