Q: I bought this scanner that by my mistake says it needs OS 9 to install it on - my macbook pro runs the newest OS X. Is it possible to install my scanner its PCL-3000, and run OS X. please could you tell me how, thanks.
A: Since it is new and you said you have the latest OS I am assuming that it is an Intel based Mac. There is in my opinion really no good way to install OS 9 and OS 9 software for use onto an Intel based Mac at this point in time. If you absolutely need to try running classic applications on an intel mac then here are some resources that may help you: http://theappleblog.com/2006/07/01/classic-on-intel-macs-courtesy-of-sheepshaver/ http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20060509180914879&lsrc=osxh I can only guess as to whether your scanner will work properly with a classic emulation though. Even if it does it is probably more trouble than it is worth for you. So my best advice is to return the scanner if you can and get one that works with Intel Macs in OS X. Sorry for the relatively bad news.
