Q: When I looked to buy a scanner there are some that say digital and others that say trunking... can someone explain what it means to me even if there isn't a difference? I just want to make sure I don't waste my money and buy the wrong thing
A: they call a trunking scanner "digital", but it is still receiving conventional FM in a trunk group. Digital is protected under the Communications Privacy Act. Digital is encrypted and it is against the law to decode encrypted communications.
