Q: My office's copier/faxer/printer was just added the capability of scanning. Trying it out today for the first time to see how it works, I was not able to edit the document. I copied and pasted into Word, but it is being recognized as a picture. Help.
A: I order to scan a document and make it editable as a text document, you require software that is Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Capable. Many scanning software packages have it integrated and you might want to check if you already have it first. If not, you may want to check the following for OCR Software. Google Search OCR Software URL: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=OCR+Software Free OCR Software URL: http://www.softi.co.uk/freeocr.htm FURTHER ASSISTANCE: The following link provide a lot of guidance, concepts and specific details for scanning.
