Q: i have a scanner the model in a canon canoscan fb 620u and when i hooked it up to the usb port it didn't reconize it at all (maybe because it was originally designed for windows 98) i'll explain why i don't want a new scanner later and then i tried to install the drivers and it went well (i had to put all the driver files on a floppy suprisingly i still have some that work) so the new hardware insrall wizard could locate them easily but after it found them and it was just about to start installing a pronpt window came up saying the it cannot install these drivers because it didn't pass the windows xp logo testing then i picked continue anyway but after it seemed finished it sayed that hardware was unable to install because of the problem mentioned earlier, is there a way to surpase the system so winows 198 hardware can be installed on windows xp (even on vista) computers i don't plan on buying a new scanner. and i know this scanner works on xp i seen it happen before my comp crashed i forgot to mention in the last paragraph (because i ran out of room ) is that the reason i don't plan on buying a new scanner is because i don't have any money and it is very hard to find a scanner that isn't attached to a printer (please don't mention buying a new scanner because this isn't the subject)
A: I suspect a driver compatible with your OS has not been created for your scanner and being an older scanner their may not be a driver created. As a possible alternative I would suggest you try a Generic Scanner Driver as follows. VueScan Generic Scanner Software URL: http://www.hamrick.com/ I Hope this Helps!
