Q: a driver download and a software download? Here is my dilemna. I already downloaded the DRIVER to my old "Canoscan lide 20" scanner. Now, having done this, I cannot copy anything. I cannot even find the canoscan icon on my desktop, let alone anywhere else. The reason, I believe, is that....I also have to download the SOFTWARE. Am I correct? Can someone tell me if I am correct, or,....is the driver download the same as the softare download? I know I am rambling on and stumbling over my own question, but....in my mind, I also have to download the software for the canoscan lide 20 in order to find the operate scanner. Can someone help? The reason for this entire mess is that I had to have a new harddrive installed...one year ago..and in doing so..lost the original software for this cannon. I also lose the original CD. Any assistance will be blessed with a 1,000 camels, or, at least a spiritual THANKYOU!
A: You'll need both...Driver and the software....Driver need so the Windows can recognized the Scanner when you plug it in and have appropriate communication with it. And the software is there for you to operate the Scanner itself. In a sense, you can control it.
