Q: 199417 Items scanned 1 Item detected None quarantined Detections 1 Processes scanned 73 Processes detected 1 Files scanned 73 Files detected 0 Registry keys scanned 92450 Cookies scanned 205 Cookies detected 1 I have had the computer for 6 months - Window Vista
A: All the files, and folders on your computer were scanned. 199417 of them. The 1 item detected must have been a tracking cookie, a thing not worrying about according to McAfee's,(and about 95% of the internet community.), 'thinking'. This is a cookie that tracks where you have gone on the 'net, in order to put together a 'roadmap' of where you a user, have been. It's to help the advertiser's know what's working, as far as their ad's go. It doesn't identify your personal information, it just 'sees' you as Jane or John Doe, who went here, went there. I delete 'em anyway. None Quarantined. Wasn't worth putting in an area to disable it. Wasn't 'Quarantined' (Contained) Detections 1: It detected this cookie. Processes scanned: All the application and programs that run from your Start Up menu. These are programs and applications that start automatically when you turn your computer on. It's advisable to have someone with computer knowledge take a look, and see if there isn't some that can be disabled from start up. They can be manually started by you, when you need them. Less processes running at Start Up, means the computer runs faster. Processes Detected: 1 Here I'll have to assume it's that tracking cookie again. Not supposed to be there, but it's assuming it's not worth quarantining. Files scanned: 73 The files, that are program and application related Files Detected: 0 No malware detected in these files. Registry keys scanned: 92450 Has to do with your registry. Long explanation here. "Googling' on the 'net will explain Registry keys better for you. Cookies scanned: Apparently the everyday harmless cookies that you always get everytime you go to a website. Like here. Yahoo put's a 25(?) year cookie on. Google put's a 35yr cookie on. Cookies detected: That Tracking Cookie. Not exactly harmless as an everyday cookie, but not worth worrying about. I would go in, and delete it anyway. Just a personal note. When I see McAfee, or some form of Norton, I delete them. There are much better security programs out there. This is just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions.
