Q: what does anyone think of it? i think i might have a virus, and want to get rid of it. a friend suggested it, but i wasn't sure if i should trust it.
A: There really are not any good free adware/spyware scanner. The best ones you have to purchase. The best of the free ones is Windows Defender by Microsoft. Spyware Doctor, Counterspy, and Webroot are the best of the pay apps. As far as anti virus apps, you can find plenty of free ones that will do the job just as well as the pay ones. Avast, AntiVir, Panda, Trend Micro, Comodo are just a few of the ones I recommend. You may want to look into getting a firewall as well if you do not currently have one, as this will help keep viruses and spyware out. Try Comodo, Sunbelt Kerio, and Zonelarm for free. You can also try one of the suites, the top rated being Symantec's Internet Security Suite 2008. Check the link below for removing viuruses and spyware.
