Q: do you have to have color ink in your scanner in order to have color pictures come out????
A: Scanners work by reflecting light of the item being scanned, and converting it to electrical signals which get sent to the computer. Ink isn't involved at any point (unless it was used in the original creation of the thing being scanned)
