Q: site...and I cannot find power on/off button on scanner..should there be one..? thankful for any advice
A: I have a CanoScan LiDE 600F and it is only USB powered. Your scanner is also powered by a USB. There is no power button i dont think (definitely not mine), it just operates when you connect scanner and computer via USB cable, then open up the relevant scanning program (supplied & installed manually), finally follow the instructions, off you go and start scanning. You should have been supplied a CD which should contain drivers (allows communication between scanner and pc) and programs (applications that helps make your scans). If for some reason you are not supplied with this cd then you select your operating system and language from here http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0000466.asp and then download the correct "ScanGear CS" program as well as the "CanoScan Toolbox" program. Make sure you read the compatibility section to make sure you select the programs that work on your machine. Hope this helps!
