Q: I found a scanner in my dads closet and want to use it. I know nothing about scanners, or how computers work. so if someone could guide me through hooking a scanner to a computer, that would be great! (: please be as simple as possible. I don't know a lot of technical words wow, I think I'll just wait till my dad gets home. that is wayy to complicated lol. thanks so much for taking the time to type all that. best answer goes to you Dan

A: Hooking a scanner up to a computer is easy, but making it work with ur computer might not be that easy. However, here's how u do it. ************Things Needed*********** 1. Scanner ( The device itself) 2. AC power cord ( to hook it up to the power; power cord usually has a wall mount transformer which has a wire to plug into the scanner ; picture ) 3. USB cord ( which is used to connect the scanner to the computer; picture ) 4. Scanner driver software ( which will enable the computer to recognise the scanner; u can obtain it from the manufacturers website; or just google it - for example : HP 3500 Scanner driver) ************* How to connect ********** 1. USB cord ends 'A' and 'B' connectros. Plug the flat (A) side to the USB port of the computer, and the smaller end (B) which looks like a 'D' to the back of the scanner. 2. Plug in the power cord into the scanner then the wall AC outlet. 3. Turn your computer ON if u don't already have it on. 4. If the scanner was already used on the same computer, it will have the driver and u will be able to see " scanner recognized" on windows. 5. If not go to the manufacturers website and search for the scanner driver (for the specific model of the scanner). 6. Install it, open the utility and start scanning.
