Q: I currently have a Brother MFC-240C USB scanner/printer/fax/etc. hooked up to my laptop. The software is installed and everything is plugged in correctly. It was working earlier but then said that it was not connecting with my laptop. Why is this and what can I do to fix it?
A: One other simple question to check: Is the MFC-240 ON? Seriously, my printer will sometimes not be turned on and as long as it isn't my computer doesn't "see" it -- even though it's still plugged in to the computer. If the power button is turned off, or it has the ability to go to 'sleep', then hit the power button and see if your computer doesn't pop up with the message that it's now "seeing" the MFC. And you might want to check to see if the 'scan' button on the unit needs to be pushed before you scan -- if you push that button and it launches the scanner software on your laptop, you may need to make sure you do that before you try to scan. (and personally, I'd try this before I'd do the other two -- it's the easiest an least time consuming...) Hope this helped! Maggie B
