When scanning colored pictures, colors are messed up?

Q: I have a visioneer scanner and I was wandering if there are any ways of fixing this problem. Whenever I scan, either the colors are washed out when I scan my drawings or when I just scanned a magazine there are thick yellow waves over the whole picture. Will cleaning it help(I kinda doubt it). I probably just need a new scanner but I want to make sure if there are any other things that I can do about it. Thanks :)

A: Hey we have a Visioneer! :-) First when you go into the preview window, make sure everything is set at "default" for the colors. Play around with changing the resolution. The thick yellow waves can mean one of two things: the bulb is going bad or the CCD's are going bad - the CCD's are the image sensors (Charged Coupled Devices) that interpret the color. Hopefully this is not it, because if it is, it's toast. If all else fails find the specs on this scanner and order a new bulb.
