Q: I have a really good epson scanner, and i was wondering if i could scan a text document and have the computer transfer it over to word document?. This way i could edit it.
A: Along with the software that came with your scanner there should be a program called "OCR" or Object Character Recognition. This software will allow the you to copy and edit text documents. In all other cases, a scanner simply takes a picture of the document that you are scanning and creates either a jpg or a bmp file. These files can be edited in a graphics editor, but not in a text editor.
