Printer wont let me print?

Q: I am trying to print some pictures from word document from my hp photosmart. The printer has a green light, wihch i believe means its working. But when ever i press print, it says "failed to print" How do i fix this?

A: 1. Will the printer test page print? (this will help narrow down the problem). To do this: Click on Start | Control Panel | Printers | your printer should only be listed 1 time (no copy 1, 2, etc). Right mouse click on the printer and then click on Properties | Print Test page. 2. If the test page does not print. Check to see if it is in the printer que by double clicking on the Printer in the Control Panel. If it shows up here, and it says "printing" but nothing happens, click on File at the top of the screen and make sure there isn't a checkmark next to "use offline". If the job goes into the que and isn't set to "use offline". Check the cables and power off your printer and reboot the computer. And turn the printer back on after 10 sec. If it still will not print the test page you may want to remove (through add/remove programs, possibly) and then re-install your printer drivers. If it still will not print after this, it may be the printer cable.
