printer not working, emergency please help!?

Q: I just installed a new printer with a usb connection. The printer test functions fine. However, I can not print from any program, including notepad. Nothing happens. I have tried system reboots, reinstalling the printer, and every usb port I have. The printer shows up as the default printer. I got an error message exactly one time stating my printer was not communicating with my computer. The properties of the printer show the usb as the port. please give me detailed instructions on how to reinstall the driver or port or whatever so I can print an assignment due at 0800. it is a lexmark 2600 http://knowledgebase.lexmark.com/pubfiles/files/PATTLNK_6102008_110-Updated%20graphics%20driver1.jpg from lexmark.com, i updated the chipset driver according to this link, the comp told me it could not find anything more compatible than what i had according to the last answer, there are no copies also i have already reinstalled it several times the usb cord is brand new and the only one i own i would love to contact technical support only they are not open

A: Moving USB printers from port to port CAUSES problems. Open your printers folder look for a printer with (copy x) after it, choose the highest numbered one and try printing to that. If it works, delete the other copies and rename that to remove the "COPY" from it's name. ====== Additional If there are no "Copy" drivers, if you unplug the printer, and replug it, does the PC give the normal "BOING" for usb device detected, or does it pop up a new hardware found box ? If not it could be either the USB system needs the drivers fixed, or the printer has died. If OTHER USB devices have issues, RIGHT CLICK my coputer, select PROPERTIES; then HARDWARE; then Device Manager, scroll down to Universal Serial bus devices. IF there are any "unknown" devices with a yellow ! or a RED triangle beside them, click once, press DELETE key, could be a partially loaded driver stopping it. If all seems OK, scroll to the USB bit and delete the USB root controller and USB root hubs, then restart windows and let windows refind the USB stuff, then reboot again and connect printer. Hope you get it going OR sinply delete ALL the printers of that name from the folder and reestart windows with the printer connected and on and it should reconnect, if not run the add printer wizard, and if needed reinstall from original CD / downloaded drivers from manufacturers site
