You might also be able to "freeze" the ink level and the printer will always think there is ink in the cartridge even when it is empty. But this can be dangerous because if you print with an empty cartridge, you can damage the heads. If you want to save money on cartridges try http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp I've been using these cartridges for years.
