Q: every time I attempt to install service pack #3 on my windows professional set-up, I get error messages and access denied. Please tell me what I`m doing wrong. Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to give me.-Davey.
A: Do this, in that order... Feel free to backup your registry if you prefer. 1. Download the Service pack on your PC, don't run it from the microsoft website. 2. Download and run a utility named Dial a Fix; you may download it from http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Dial-a-fix.shtml This will fix the issues with prior installations. 3. Reboot the PC and run the SP3 file to reinstall while nothing else is running on that PC. Good luck!
