Q: Purchased HP F1280 printer, copy and scanner all in one. Installed it on computer [Windows Vista] and everything worked okay. Switched it off. Two days later went to use it again and was told that it was not installed. Had to put the installation disc back in and everything seemed ok. Then same thing happened next time I wanted to use it. Can't keep re-installing the disc or what is the point. Any ideas?
A: Hi! This is a common problem with Vista and Hp printers - for some reason Vista keeps losing the printer software - it is still there but Vista can't find it. You could try HP website for answers - they do have a good contact us facility and reply quite quckly. However, if Vista loses the HP info - don't put the disc in because you will create TWO sources of software - as it tries to install itself and asks forthe discs - click cancel and keep doing it until the window closes. Should be OK after that - next tip - switch off the printer before a full shutdown - Vista then recognises that the printer is off and ignores it
