Windows Vista Share A Printer?

Q: On my laptop, I want to be able to print using the printer connected to my home computer. On that computer, I have already enabled printer sharing, and I have set the firewall to allow printer sharing. Now, in Microsoft Office Word 2007, I select 'print', then 'find printer' Then a window pops up that says, The Active Directory Domain Services is currently unavailable. What does this mean, and how can I make it available? Other info: When I try to 'add a printer' it is unable to find the printer. I've tried just about everything. What do I do? Not exactly sure what you mean by that, but I can go online on my laptop. I am on it right now. I don't think the problem is that simple.

A: Hoave you set up a local home network among your computers? You didn't mention anything about that. so it sounds like you just need to setup a home network first. Windows has a wizard for that. ADD--> Are you able to share files wirelessly between the copmuters? Just because you have internet doesn't mean you have a home network setup between the computers. You have to have the computers talking to each other. On your main coputer with the printer and interenet, Goto "my Network Places" and on the left side you should see a task called "Set up a wireless network for home or small office". Here's a couple good sites from windows on how to do this: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/getstarted/default.mspx http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/default.mspx I'm assuming your using XP. If you have vista, try this: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/help/76174f4a-7522-425a-9424-324dd299265e1033.mspx You can ask more questions under the networking section if you need more help. Hope this helps out a little more.
