A: It sounds like your scan drivers are not being recognized. Can you make a copy from the scanner? If you can then I would say your problem is in your drivers. Uninstall/Reinstall. If it will not copy from the scanner unit, it is your scanner. With AIO's you have the added possibility of something (scanner, fax) breaking and the printer still working. So, you may have gone from an AIO to a printer, if your scanner is not working.
