what are the most important features for a compact photo printer?

Q: i am deciding between 2 printers- the canon selphy cp760 and the epson picturemate dash pm260. the canon is about $50 cheaper, but it can't crop photos or rotate them. the LCD screen to look at pictures doesn't tilt, and it can only rely on AC power versus battery. the epson has all these features. i will probably using this somewhat often, mostly for scrapbooking. is it worth paying $50 more for the features that the epson has???

A: If you want just a 4X6 printer, go for the Epson PictureMate. The difference between the functions on the two are like night and day. The Epson you can view, zoom in, rotate and crop your photos. You can also get the optional battery pack and bluetooth adapter, so you can print pictures from your bluetooth cell phone camera. The Epson has 4 ink color printing, so if you want true black in your photos, this printer will beat all the others. Also the Canon Selphy has a snap on paper tray that is hard to manuveur and can easily break (because the paper tray is sticking out of the front of the printer). I agree with yisgood, that if you want to print larger prints, you can purchase the Epson RX595 for the same price or less. This allows you to print up to 81/2X11 and on different types of paper. With the PictureMate you are stuck with 4X6 photos on photo paper. I print on canvas paper and on fabric with my printer. I do not understand the statement about the bad reviews the PictureMate recieved, because they are the #1 selling 4X6 printer in the world for the last 4 years. My daughter has the pictureMate and bluetooth adapter and she loves it. I have the RX595 and I love it. I recommend Epson printers to everyone. If you do go with the larger RX595, there are a few things you should know. 1. I leave my printer on because everytime you turn your printer off and then back on, it recharges the ink and that actually uses ink. 2. You have to tell the printer that you want to change the ink cartridge. Easy to do, hit setup>ink levvels>change cartridge, on the printer. 3. If you run out of a color you cannot print until you replace it. Epson used to let you print in black, even if you were out of a color, but then Epson started being known as the printer with clogged printheads. To solve this negative reputation, they now make printers that do not allow you to print if you are out of a color. When they allowed you print without a color, people would print for a month and then replace the color. In that amount of time, the ink in the printhead reservior dries out and you get a clogged printhead. So to counter this problem, you are not allowed to print, if any color is empty. Epson tried allowing you to print if a color was empty, but ended up getting a bad reputation for their efforts, so to curb that dilema you need to have ink in all cartridges. Also, both Epson printers feature auto-photo correction. If you have a picture where the subject is dark (incorrect lighting) it will automatically lighten and readjust the picture for you. This is so cool. No more bad picture (due to lighting). The RX595 throws in faded photo restore (via the scanner), direct CD/DVD printing (no more peel and stick labels) built-in red-eye removal, PC free printing (via the LCD screen), B&W-Sepia built-in and 6 individual ink cartridges (so you only change the color you are out of). It can also use the optional blutooth device.
