Q: I've had this printer for a few months with no problems... this morning I opened the printer to check a model # for ink, and ever since the screen just reads "Carrier Jam"... I've opened and closed it several times, shut it on and off... all I get is this hellacious grinding noise, and another message on the screen to Clear Carrier Jam. There is no jam of any kind... Help!? Also, if it helps, I am using this as a standalone copier in an office... not attached to any computer... I don't even know what a carrier is... lol! I read on another site to make sure the ink cartridge containers are closed correctly, but I can't get to them to check them... they are all the way to the left where I can't even see them. There is nothing stuck anywhere in the printer that I can see, and I shook it upside down and nothing came out. I can't press any buttons - the massage to clear the carrier just blinks at me! I am desperate... any suggestions will help!
A: I have two suggestions for you: 1. Dell has a community forum where other Dell users share their experiences and can offer help. http://www.dellcommunity.com/supportforums/?~ck=mn 2. See if you can return the printer to system defaults: -----remove the ink cartridges (suggest you sit them on a damp paper towel to keep the ink from drying) ----- turn the printer off -----unplug printer from computer and power -----wait 5 minutes -----reconnect, install ink, try to print something. Good luck.
