Q: We have a nice copier at our workplace, but every now and then the toner waste cartridge fills up. What's the proper way to dispose of this...someone just dumped the used toner into the garbage today and the whole bag is filled with soot. This can't be good for the environment! I think Smokey the Bear would maul whoever did it. But seriously, does anyone know the protocol for this?
A: Unfortunately with a waste toner tank there really is not much you can do. Simply dumping it is not very smart as the airborne toner is not good for your health. When emptying it make sure the toner finds it's way into a sealed bag then into the trash. Some machines allow you to reuse waste toner, you may want to check with the manufacturer to see if this is something your machine is capable of.
