Q: First I have to say the CX8400 is a money guzzler. Yes, it prints well, but I've found that I cannot replace individual colors of ink, you have to buy the whole pack ($35.00 ). Where I'm from we don't have a lot of specialized ink retailers. Also, the thing won't even let you scan without ALL of the ink cartridges being full, even if you don't need to print anything. If you're broke or in a hurry, this is a huge problem. So I need to save money. ***QUESTION: WILL INK INJECTORS (let's say from Walgreens) WORK WITH CX8400 CARTRIDGES? *** Thanks : )
A: You can only inject ink when the cartridges have ink in them. Once they run empty, the chip self-destructs. As far as I know, there is no resetter for this model. But I get cartridges for my CX8400 from http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp for less than $5 a cartridge. They work well and hold a little more ink than Epson.
