Serious Printer Help - I will be forever in your debt if you solve this one!!!?

Q: Hi - Thank you in advance for any help you might provide! I just bought a new printer - Epson Stylus NX400, and my computer will not recognize the printer. I had an old Dell AIO printer before, and it wouldn't recognize the Scan function, so I looked up online how to completely wipe my system clean and start over so it might work. It never did (and I think I may have messed something up doing that). Now my new printer is not being recognized - I installed the CD, updated the drivers from Epson's website, and even installed the driver from the Printer and Faxes folder under Control Panel in the Server Properties window. It is shown as installed on my system in the Driver tab of Print Server Properties, but it is now showing up as installed on my computer, and I cannot Scan anything. What the heck am I supposed to do? I am running Windows XP.

A: Take everything off your computer one more time, I know it is time to groan...sorry. After you have done this you need to install your programming FIRST before you hook up up your printer to the computer. At a point in the installation it will ask you to to hook up the printer, it is at that point that you will turn your printer on. After all is done right click on the printer and choose it as default printer... should be a go. Check on the net for updates after you run your test page. I have three different printers on mine right now, two have the scanner feature , one does not. They all function perfectly fine. You should see a check mark by the one that the computer goes to print. I hope this helps
