If you need color, and particularly photos, then look at the Epson cx8400. It's a scanner/copier/printer which circuitcity.com has for $60 with free shipping. It does a beautiful job and the warranty is great. For a year epson will express-ship a replacement and pick up the old one. Epson ink is expensive (like all brand name ink) but you can get great low-cost compatible cartridges (brand new - never use refills) for under $5 at http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp
