Q: I'm looking for an all-in-one for less than $100. Staples has a CX9400F on sale for $90. Is this an alright machine, or should I keep looking? Thanks!! And I would need it to work on Win XP, Mac OSX and Linux...
A: Absolutely! As someone who was in the hardware business for years, I always recommended Epson and still do. They have the best warranty. For a year they will express-ship a replacement and pick up the old one. They had some crazy rebates a few months ago and between myself, family and friends we must have bought 100 CX7400,8400, etc. One of them needed to go back. One call to Epson and they had a replacement two days later. The print quality is excellent. I scanned in some cereal boxes and the print out on plain paper looks darn close to the original. Epson ink is expensive, but if you dont need your printout to last 100 years (as epson claims and I dont know who can refute it) you can get cheap cartridges at http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp which work just as well. These are new cartridges, not refills which I never recommend. If you check out reviews for this printer online, they get very high marks from actual users.
