Q: I think it has to do with the scanner motor. This has happened a couple of times before and eventually the printer does come back online and prints. Any quick solutions to get the printer to start working again, besides banging it against the wall?
A: There's a sensor inside that detects how much the belt the print cartridge is on moves. If you open the top, the sensor is right behind the print cart carriage and covers the belt (usually a thin orange-yellow belt at the top) Clean the belt with mild rubbing alcohol to remove dirt. With a piece of cotton ( no q-tip) carefully clean the sensor. This can also be cleaned with the printer OFF and using a can of air duster upside down. The cold liquid will dissolve the ink from the sensor. Wait for it to return to room temperature. Good luck!
