Q: Hi, my dad has recently started using a new pc with Windows Vista. He is going round the twist as the wee man inside his Lexmark printer no longer tells him when "printing started, printing complete"..He has already ticked the box in the options which should let the wee fellow speak to him whilst printing stuff, but he seems to have lost his voice. I know this isn't a major problem, but it is a huge annoyance to my dad. Any help would be smashing as he's ready to ditch the new pc and go back to his old wind up one!!!!
A: Richard is absolutely correct, you need to download the latest drivers from the Lexmark website (the complete printer software download not just the driver... look for the biggest file to download for that particular printer). Goto the link I've included at the bottom of my answer and enter the model of his Lexmark. But I just love Alex's answer. I've never been a fan of Lexmark... I made the mistake of purchasing a truckload of refurbished Lexmarks in closeout for the purpose of resale. They were garbage. I made my money back, but just barely... even though I got them at a steal. Personally, I've always gone out of my way to ensure there were no little voices coming from my computer... that and the "open door" chimes in my cars are always the first things I make sure to kill. (I find talking machines to be very pretentious).
