Q: tried both of them still wont work i have a toshiba satellite A80 laptop, windows xp, printer is a hp photo smart this is what the computer says once i tried to do that " could not start the print spooler on local computer" ERROR 1068 The dependency service or group failed to start. i dont understand any of that im not very good with computers
A: Print spooler is the Windows service that must be running to be able to use a printer. Are you getting an error message about print spooler not running? If that is the case, click the start button, then run, and type "services.msc" without the quotes. A new window will open called Services. Scroll down the list until you see Print Spooler(they are in alphabetical order). Click once on it to highlight it(turn it blue), and check the "status" column. If it says started, click on the blue "restart" on the left-hand side of the same frame. If the "status" column is blank, click on the blue "start". Now you should be able to install your printer. If this isn't the problem you're having, post a little more detail(operating system, model of laptop, any error messages, etc.), and we'll see what we can come up with.
