Q: I originally had the Geek Squad come out and set this up for me when I bought the laptop a few months ago and they came out to set up wireless internet for me, but since then I've gotten a virus in the laptop & had to have the entire hard drive wiped and everything reinstalled. I don't know how to set up the remote printing, and can't afford to pay the Geek Squad the almost $200 they now want just to come out again to set up remote printing. Anyone...please help/advise??? Is this something I can do myself w/some advice?
A: Easy fix: set your XP computer to share files. I have the same setup at home, an XP desktop and a Vista laptop. The easiest way is to go to Help on the desktop and follow the instructions to share printer and files. On your laptop, go to your network and simply find the XP desktop and then the printer, Vista will automatically install the driver and from then on you will be able to print via wireless connection through your desktop.
