Q:
A: Tray 1 is your multi-purpose paper tray, also known as the manual feed tray (the drop down one in front). You can use pretty much any paper size you want to in that tray as long as you specify the paper size that you're printing on thru the program page setup settings of your application. If you don't specify the correct page size for the paper being fed at that time, the printer will probably report a jam error as the paper is not the correct size that it was looking for and the end of the page won't hit the sensors at the correct time that it was expecting. So, in essence, yes, you can as long as you have it set correctly in the program for each page printed. Otherwise it's not the best idea to try have more than one paper size in the tray at the same time. Now if you meant the pull-out paper tray at the bottom, pretty much everything I said above still applies, but you also have the added complication of the printer detecting what the paper tray is set to for paper size as well. Best of luck.
