Q: Laser Printers print faster but when I look at the specs they generally have a lower PPM than a Inkjet printer. Look at these 2 for examples. The first one (inkjet) says 37ppm while the second one (laser) says 12ppm. A: A laser printer prints at a nearly constant speed. An inkjet prints faster if there is less on the page and the quality is set way low. So they give the specs the same way they give MPG on a car. Yes, you can get 40 mpg is you only drive downhill and never have to stop. But we know the reality. In almost all cases, a laser will be faster than an inkjet, sharper on text and cheaper on ink/toner. Get an inkjet if you have the need for color or dont print much volume. I actually have a few of both and use them depending on what I'm printing.
