Q: can the printer print with only one cartridge installed to it either the black cartridge or the colored one? and can it print even if one cartridge is already empty?
A: It's ink tank, not cartridge. And the answer is yes. It will print only colours if you have inserted only the colour tank, and black and white if you have inserted only B&W tank. Both if you insert both.
