Lexmark X6170 not working on my Windows Vista PC?

Q: I just purchased a New Windows Vista desktop. I hooked it up to my Lexmark X6170 All-In-One Printer. I installed the CD and everything then I try and print a document, and it doesn't respond. Instead there's this icon that shows up on the icon menu bar saying "2 Documents pending for A.v". I went to the Lexmark homepage and tried to download a driver for it...Download is good...but then I cant start the installation because it says "Cannot unninstall old drivers because printer is in use" or something like that. Please help me I really need to get this printer working. Please no suggestions on getting a Mac or new PC or new printer, just a tip or if none then thanks anyways.

A: You could try clicking on that icon in the "menu" bar. Once open you should have a menu bar at the top that has "Printer". Click on it and then click on "cancel all documents". You could also try turning off and unplugging the printer from your computer. Some drivers refuse to install when the hardware the driver is for, is connected to the computer Hope this works for you, oleric
