will turning printer on and off damage it?

Q: I mean to say that my printer has one main switch that completely shuts the printer off and on. Will doing this every night before i go to sleep damage the printer over time or is this actually better because it gives the machine rest? Thanks for your expertise. By the way the printer is a Brother DCP 7020.

A: It's okay to turn it off so that the ink cartridges will go back to its carriage and the nozzles will be covered. Thus doing away with possible clogged nozzle problems. The downside of this is that everytime you turn it back on, the unit will spurt a bit ink to the nozzles to do a little cleaning making sure it is ready. But if you keep printer on all the time and you print once in a few days, (one paper will do) that will help maintain the nozzles from being clogged. So I'd say just turn it off once a week. that will do. I think this answer just moved me up to level 4.. goodluck!
