In order to talk to the printer windows has to run an Emulator of an older versions of itself called windows on windows (it will appear in your task manager as WOW.exe) There is really no way to stop this, prior to printing shut down all unnecessary applications, hopefully that will only slow you down a bit. If you do not have the disk, do not delete the driver. It is no longer listed on HP's website as they stopped supporting those printers.
