Q: My Lexmark 730 printer kept saying my cartridge was unauthorised even through I have used the same one for several weeks. Having tried 2 more cartridges including a new one the result was the same. I then tried reinstalling the lexmark programme and during the uninstall the Voyager ADSL modem quick start icon disappeared from the desktop. On trying to install the lexmark again it would not install as it said my cartridge was unauthorised. How do I get the quick start Voyager Icon back ? and any ideas on whats wrong with the printer.
A: Hiya this is a lexmark problem, and possibly a fault with your cartridge. Take the cartridge out and try cleaning it with an eraser. Lexmark are probably one of the worst manufacturers when it comes to ink. I am sure you will know that their ink cartridges are very expensive and you can only use their own brand and not cheaper alternatives. If you have the money buy a canon printer with individual ink tanks. The cartridges are much cheaper and if one colour runs out you only need to replace that one colour rather than the full set. Its worth paying the extra money for a canon, but they are more expensive for a reason. Lexmark on the other hand make cheap or even give away printers because they know they will make back any losses through ink sales.
