Very strange network printing problem!?

Q: I will try to give as much detail as I can. There is a Lexmark X2470 ptinter attached to a computer bu USB and it prints fine from that printer. Upstairs we are connected to the network with a Belkin 802.11g 54mbps which gives us internet fine. When we try to connect to the downstairs printer we cannot manage to find it by using the add a printer however we CAN connect to it by browsing and going into our network and then the downstairs computer and then connecting to it that way. So it says connecting and everything seems fine and it is now the default printer. However when we try to print from the upstairs computer nothing comes out the printer downstairs. ALSO after we have told it to print from the upstairs computer there is a number 1 beside the printer in the printers folder UPSTAIRS but when we go downstairs it says there is no queue? All the computers are windows vista home premium. A: There is a usb plug in the home hub that will - I believe- take a printer, although I haven't tried that myself but you then need to make sure that the printer is configured on THAT port i.e. the 'hub usb port' Also the upstairs printer cannot print to the printer if the downstairs machine is turned off, a bit basic, but it has been overlooked before, so you won't be alone in doing it. Again the printer 'upstairs' has to be looking for the printer ON the downstairs machine, not just a USB port, but the port ON THE DOWNSTAIRS machine it will have a title that expresses that it is that port.. It has a number 1 next to it because it has loaded a second driver and thinks its a different printer, so again the port is crucial, look at the config to see which port its trying to print through. If this is no good, try asking again and I will have a ponder... Jeff :0)
