I can't figure out how to use the scanner on my HP psc printer?

Q: I have one of those all-in-one printers that also functions as a copier and a scanner - it is an HP psc Series 1310. I cannot make the scanner work - its not the machine - it is my ignorance. The owners manual is long gone. The scannr program opens up, and it will scan whatever I need it to onto the screen, but then I can't save it. I tried hitting the button to save it to Word, but then when I am in word and try to open it,it is all gobbely goop - like it is written in a different language - in other words, not the original document I was trying to scan. Anybody out there have some advice or guidance for me?

A: Scanning and then copying on Word....or printing them is not perfected as yet. For one thing the original document..the one you are trying to copy (and print)...has to be computer generated. If it is not then it will not work...it all comes out like you said.....like some sort of code...or some letters come out and some do not I have the same problem with my scanner. Before I try to copy any document for printing..I make sure that it is computer generated..otherwise no soap!. It looks like that this is what you are doing..trying to copy a newspaper article...or a document which WAS not written on a computer. Try it on a document which is written on a computer....like an official document from some government department (i.e. post office...social security...etc) they are all PC generated
