Q: Recently a friend gave me this printer. Sadly It did not come with the installation disk so I downloaded the driver along with the patch. I have Windows xp btw. Well my problem is that it simply wont print. It just says pending or printing but the printer is not doing anything. I looked in properties everything looked fine except in location in the general tab it was empty. I don't know if this is bad or good. Any suggestion and helpful tips would be greatly appreciated.
A: Most printers require that you install the Software before you connect the hardware. However, most people plug the hardware in and then install the software. Try removing the software from add/remove programs in the control panel. Unplug the USB cable form the back of the computer and then re-install the software, do not plug it back in until the request that you do so. This is just a possibility and I have seen many people get hung up in this way. Other reason may be, it's just broken. The Lexmark printers are not the most durable. This is the reason they are usually the cheapest.
