A: Computer Gal got some of the basics... Check the contacts (they will be gold or silver) and make sure they are clean. I know you said that the Cyan is new but change it anyway, it could be bad. Some of the other things that could cause the problem are a bad laser/scanner, high voltage board, dc controller board, and or bad springs in the contacts. Unfortunately most of the fixes will require a service technician.
