Q:
A: from Lexmark Solution Center choose maintenance->install cartridge. Just follow the instructions you will read from there. Software needs to be informed that you've installed the tri-color cartridge. Otherwise, it will use only the last known installed cartridge w/c in your case only the black color cartridge. The device can print even with (either) one cartridge installed.
