Printer Problem?

Q: I have a Dell AIO 920 and when I try to print, it sounds like the cartridges are dragging against something (it's making an unusual noise) and then the "Cartridge Stall" message comes up on the computer. I don't see anything in the way or anything unusual when I open the cover. Any Ideas?

A: Check to see if you paper is feeding properly. The standard size paper is 8.5"x11". If you paper is feeding crooked, you may have to narrow the paper feeder (If applicable). If this isn't helping, look at the printer as you print a test page. If a foreign object has gotten itself lodged inside the printer, remove the paper, open the printer cover and remove the object. As far as the noise goes, do not overload the printer with paper as the access weigh can cause the printer to "drag". If you keyboard isn't wireless and is situated above the printer, make sure the keyboard's cord is not interfering with the paper as it being fed. This can lead printer dragging and/or cartridge stalling. You may also want to align the cartiridges as indicated under the (Windows XP version) "Dell Printer Solution Center" in the "Start" menu. Highlight "All Programs", "Dell Printers", "(Your printer name here)", and then click on "Dell Printer Solution Center". Once inside, click "Maintenance" and choose the appropriate topic.
