Q: A client of mine has an old, discontinued HP LaserJet 5P. It was working fine until she installed a scanner. Now her print jobs from any application will be spooled to the printer, but not print and status reads "error printing". The weird thing is that test pages work fine. I can't reinstall the printer because she has no installation disks and neither do HP. I've tried separately: - printing from different applications - uninstalling the scanner - rebooting both the computer and the printer - updating the driver with one from HP - a system restore to before the scanner was installed. None worked. HP won't help because it is a old, discontinued model. Any thoughts on this? She doesn't want to buy a newer printer.
A: this will resolve your problem: hopefully you're usb a usb cable: Go to the device manager, instead of clicking on update driver, uninstall it, after doing sounplug the usb cable, restart your PC and then re-nsert the USB cable, there will be a pop-up saying device detected and installing. After that is done, you should be up and running.
