I am looking to buy a new printer?

Q: BUT, I want one that works with Windows XP, Vista, Linux, and Mac OS X! I want a printer that I can still continue to buy ink for a couple of years (3-5 maybe). Also, it would be awesome if anyone can suggest a printer that does not need specific drivers to work. Some manufacturers make you buy a new printer as an older one will not have drivers for a newer one.

A: Epson, hp and canon are good brands, the os they work with will be listed on their website with each model. There are no printers which use a "generic" driver unless you get a post script printer, but then you won't be able to use any features of your specific printer as each driver contains the specific capabilities of that particular printer. If software companies would quit introducing a new os every 2 years, printer manufacturers would be able to offer drivers for a longer period of time, and as a printer gets older manufacturers don't offer upgraded drivers because the demand is so low.
