Printing on Vellum?

Q: Okay, here's my plight...I'm printing wedding invites for a friend of mine on pre-cut 5x6 med-weight vellum. I'm using a Canon Pixma MP780...I've tried feeding it from both the paper feed switch and the cassette, I've tried doing a basic clean and deep clean on the printer, I've run it through with regular paper, and changed the paper type (from glossy to matte...everything)...and I'm STILL getting a little "kick" on the tail end of the invite that leaves a few lines of black ink on the periphery of the invitation. It's driving me insane. Does ANYONE have any ideas?? I know Kinko's can't print anything smaller than a 8x10...is there anywhere else I may be able to take it, or do you have any printer secrets?? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A: The problem is the weight of the Vellum, it's literally too stiff for the printer. But there may be a way around it. Look on the back of the printer. On the iP series (and if I remember on the mP series too), there is a door which gives access to the rollers and in addition can be used for very stiff card. If the mP780 doesn't have this, the iP4500 does, and is really cheap (in Argos). The final option (if the lines only affect the extreme edge) is too buy a rotary cutter and cut the ends off. JBV^_^
