Q: My printer won't work - I press the power button, it lights up green and then goes off and the paper button and ink button start to flash alternately. I have tried turning it off and on again, and restarting my computer. I have been through the troubleshooting actions for the C66 on the Epson website, but they have not helped. There is nothing in the way of the printer carriage - no paper jam, no foreign object. The lid on top of the cartridge carriage is fully closed (I have had a similar problem where it wouldn't quite click into place, so I have double checked this). When turning it on the printer doesn't seem to want to even try to move the carriage (like it does normally) - the green power light goes straight off and the other lights start to flash. There is plenty of paper in the feeder and all the ink cartridges are full. The computer seems to be sending the information as normal (ie when you select "print" the printer icon appears on the task bar). Ray E - I have just tried holding down the ink button - nothing changes - the ink and paper lights are still flashing alternately and there's no activity from the carriage sewrobb - this error is not the normal reaction for an ink cartridge out. I changed two of the four cartridges two days ago and have been running fine with them. I ran the alignment set up when I installed the two new cartridges. The cartridge warning light had not come on at all yesterday. If it makes any difference, I only use genuine Epson cartridges Deep - thanks, I downloaded the new driver but it made no difference. I've been on to technical support for the UK and it turns out the printer is dead - time to fork out for a new one I guess!
A: No need for a new printer. The printer thinks that the excess ink pads in the rear of the printer are full. Cleaning them is easy but messy. Wear gloves and old clothes. Then the counters need to be reset. Download the free utility software at - http://www.ssclg.com It will reset the counters for you.
