How can I install a dell printer (W5210n) without the CD?

Q: The main problem is that although I downloaded the driver from the Dell website, I still can't install the printer. It is a network printer by the way. I extracted the files but I still have no luck. Is there a certain program I should use to extract the files or a step that I haven't tooken that I should follow through with, after I install the driver. The computer is running Windows 2000, so yeah it's like a decade old so maybe I won't have any luck.

A: I would do this. Go to Start>Settings>Printers. Double Click on Add Printer>Next From here Select Local Printer ( I know you said it was a network printer but select LOCAL PRINTER) >Next>Put a radio dot where it says Add New Port. Click on the down arrow and scroll down until you see Standard TCP/IP port click on it and it will show up in the port box then click next>click next and in the printer name or IP address put in the official printer name or better yet the IP address of the printer. If the printer is on a network it will have an IP address. Click next and finish. Wait till the Add Printer Wizard comes back up. Click on Have disk > copy the file files from where you downloaded them use the driver files for Windows 2000 and follow the on screen prompts and install the drivers for the printer. When done the printer icon should appear in the printer listing and should NOW work. Good Luck
